Eagles Work Out Quarterback Geno Smith
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Though the Eagles have several quarterbacks signed to contracts, there isn't one that screams out "the future" of the organization.
Michael Vick is getting up there in age, and Nick Foles isn't as mobile as a Chip Kelly quarterback needs to be.
Geno Smith is a name that's been brought up as a possible solution. He ran the fastest 40 time at the NFL Scouting Combine, and although he's been more of a pocket-type quarterback than a read-option quarterback, his natural athleticism makes you wonder if he couldn't bring the best of both worlds.
Perhaps Chip Kelly thinks the same thing.
Chip Kelly and members of the Eagles front office traveled to Morgantown, West Virginia to work out Smith. The Eagles have the fourth pick in the NFL Draft, and Smith has gone anywhere from fourth to 30th in 2013 mock drafts. There isn't a consensus on who is the best quarterback in this year's draft.
