Report: Eagles Will Not Release Michael Vick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Eagles will not release Michael Vick on Wednesday and assure that they will not have to pay him $3 million for the 2013 season, a report says.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that though the Eagles could cut Vick, and rid themselves of all financial responsibility to the quarterback by doing so, they do not plan to do so. Vick's contract states that the Eagles will owe him the $3 million only if he does not play for an NFL team in 2013 that pays him that sum.
Though Vick has not played spectacularly over the last two seasons, the Eagles are betting that they will be able to cut Vick at a later date and he will still be picked up by another team, or trade him to a team willing to pay his $15.5 salary (or a renegotiated number) for next season. There is also the possibility, though it seems unlikely, that the Eagles are still considering keeping Vick on the roster for the 2013 season.
