Report: Eagles Nearly Traded For Colin Kaepernick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – I warn you, the following information may be too painful for you to read.
The Eagles could have had Colin Kaepernick prior to the 2012 NFL Draft.
According to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles came close to trading the second round pick that would end up being Vinny Curry to the 49ers for Kaepernick. The 49ers were open to trading Kaepernick because of the success the team had the previous season with Alex Smith at quarterback.
It gets even more painful, because of why the Eagles did not trade for Kaepernick.
"One league source maintains that the Eagles backed out of the proposed deal when they decided they would be able to draft Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson, whom they geared their whole draft around, league sources said," Schefter writes. "But then, just before Philadelphia could draft Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks selected him, leaving the Eagles to take Nick Foles, another quarterback they rated highly, though not nearly as high as Wilson."
So, to recap, the Eagles didn't trade for Colin Kaepernick, because they geared their whole draft around Russell Wilson, who they did not get.
If you think of quarterbacks you'd like to have, if your head coach is Chip Kelly, Kaepernick and Wilson top the list.
At least we have Nick Foles, who has played one snap this year, and Vinny Curry, who has been inactive for both games.
