Report: Eagles Likely To Switch To Nick Foles
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Michael Vick seemed almost resigned to losing his starting quarterback spot after Sunday's game against the Falcons. Perhaps he knew something.
VOTE: Who should start, Vick or Foles?
94WIP's Howard Eskin is reporting that the Eagles are likely to make the switch to Nick Foles for the team's next game, next Monday night against the New Orleans Saints. Eskin says Andy Reid met with Eagles coaches after Sunday's loss to the Falcons, because of Vick's troubles. Eskin says Vick missed two audible calls during the game, and has made these mistakes consistently.
"The thing that concerns them is some of his calls at the line of scrimmage against base defenses are incorrect," Eskin said. "The key thing I heard was, 'it's just not getting better.'"
"They have an extra day, they play on Monday night," Eskin said. "I think this [decision] is all but made."
Vick was 21-35 for 191 yards, 1 touchdown did not throw an interception against the Falcons.
If Foles does get his chance against the Saints, it would be a matchup that would seem to be beneficial for the rookie quarterback. The Saints have given up the third most passing yards in the NFL this season, and are tied for the third most TD's given up through the air.
