Chip Kelly Is New Eagles Coach
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – This is a shocker.
Chip Kelly will be the new head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, the team has confirmed.
"Chip Kelly will be an outstanding head coach for the Eagles," Jeff Lurie said in a statement. "He has a brilliant football mind. He motivates his team with his actions as well as his words. He will be a great leader for us and will bring a fresh energetic approach to our team."
It comes as a surprise, as the belief was that Kelly was returning to the University Of Oregon. The Eagles and Kelly met for a reported nine hours in their interview.
The 49-year old Kelly has been coach of the Oregon Ducks for the last four seasons, compiling a record of 46-7 in that time, scoring an average of 44.7 points per game. Before becoming head coach at Oregon, he held the same position at the University of New Hampshire.
