Report: Allen Iverson To Officially Retire

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Allen Iverson might finally be able to find some peace.
Iverson will formally announce his retirement in the coming days, according to a report from Tzvi Twersky of SLAM Magazine.
Iverson, 38 years-old, seemed to be holding on for one final chance to play in the NBA, but has had trouble finding a team to give him the opportunity. Aside from an offer to play for the Mavericks NBDL team, the looks from league teams were few and far between. His last stint in the NBA was in 2010 with the Sixers, a return to the team that drafted him.
A nine-time All-Star, and MVP, Iverson is certainly a first-ballot basketball hall of fame player. The highlight of his NBA career coming in the 2000-01 season, when he took the Sixers to the NBA Finals, eventually losing to the Lakers in five games. Few will forget the game one victory that was punctuated with his jumpshot, and step over Lakers guard Tyronn Lue.
Iverson, the first pick in the 1996 NBA Draft, averaged 26.7 points and 6.2 assists for his career.
