Renewed Conflict Between Israel And Hamas Hits Close To Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The current violent conflict between Israel and Hamas was on the minds of fans attending an Israeli JazzPhest brunch concert at World Cafe Live in West Philadelphia on Sunday.
For some in attendance, the people in Israel are family.
"My mother was Israeli, my sister's Israeli," says Lyn Davis, "and my niece and her two kids are Israeli."
It's also personal for Deborah Baer Mozes, Director of Culture for the Consulate General of Israel in Philadelphia. Her daughter lives in Tel Aviv.
"She's been living in Israel now for almost four years," Mozes says.
Because of the long range capabilities of Palestinian rockets, Tel Aviv is now protected by a missile interceptor system called the Iron Dome.
"She and her friends have actually been able to see when the Iron Dome stops a rocket that's coming from Gaza, and it hits it and destroys it, they've been able to see the stream of smoke," says Mozes. "Every day, every few hours she calls me and touches base, I call her and touch base. It's been a very tense few days."
