Rendell Says Hillary Clinton's Visits To Philadelphia Are Not Politically Motivated

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has not one, but three separate appearances in Philadelphia this fall. But one of the region's leading Democrats insists that Clinton's schedule has no political motive.
Hillary Clinton -- said to be considering another Presidential run in 2016 -- will be in town next month, and then will return twice in November.
Former Governor and former DNC chief Ed Rendell -- a longtime Clinton booster -- says this scheduling is purely happenstance, and not about shoring up support in a key region.
"I don't think there are any political overtones at all," Rendell said. "In fact, this is demonstrative of the fact that Hillary Clinton can be the one public official who can be relevant without holding office."
Clinton is to receive the Liberty Medal on September 10th, and then will deliver keynote addresses here in November to separate groups, the Pennsylvania Conference for Women and the U.S. Green Building conference.
