Rendell: "Don't Count Corbett Out"

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Governor Corbett's poll numbers are so bad that you might question the sanity of political insiders who say "don't count him out." But if that's the case, you can call former Governor Ed Rendell crazy.
A Franklin and Marshall College Poll released in late August showed only 17-percent of all Pennsylvania voters, and just 30-percent of Republicans, said Governor Corbett has done an "excellent" or "good" job.
But former Governor Ed Rendell shrugs those numbers off:
"Governor Corbett is not going to be easy to beat," Rendell said. "Do not get fooled by these polls. The governor will raise a ton of money… will have a two to one, maybe three to one advantage over our Democratic candidate. The governor has the power of the incumbency."
Rendell notes that no Pennsylvania governor has failed to win re-election since the state constitution was changed in 1968 to allow two-term governors.
The former governor says the Democratic party needs to find out who its strongest candidate will be and that's one reason why he says he won't endorse any of Corbett's would-be challengers.
