Reid Reviews Eagles' 30-24 Loss to Bears
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It was a damaging loss for the Eagles as they dropped a 30-24 decision to the Bears last night (see related story). The defeat dropped the Eagles to 3-5, they are now tied for last in the NFC East with the Redskins and are three games behind the first-place and 6-2 New York Giants.
Eagles head coach Andy Reid at his day-after-the-game press conference says it was a case of making too many mistakes.
"The turnovers and the penalties, we've got to take care of business there. Whether I agree with the penalties or don't agree with the penalties, there are some that came in crucial situations."
The Eagles had two turnovers and committed six penalties. But Reid says despite the mistakes, they still had a shot to steal the game.
"When it was all said and done, we had the ball in our hand, at the end of the game, three plus minutes to go and we didn't take advantage of that. Touchdown wins the game. We didn't capitalize there."
The Eagles got as close as the Bears 30 on their next to last possession before turning the ball over on downs. They got one final desperation shot at the end zone in the final seconds, a Michael Vick pass falling incomplete.
On the injury front, safety Nate Allen has a concussion. Guard Evan Mathis is dealing with turf toe. And defensive end Juqua Parker continues to battle an ankle sprain. Parker did not play last night against Chicago.
The Eagles will host Arizona on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Linc.
