Reducing The Risk Of Seniors Falling

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - As baby boomers get older there is no doubt that medical care will need to be readily available and there will need to be effective treatments in the form of medications and procedures but there is no doubt that some of the best medical treatments are preventive.

A report in 
the American Family Physician focuses on the eldrly and preventing falls and while many baby boomers are not at this point, there are many baby boomers with parents who are at risk for falls.

The American Geriatric Association recommends everyone over 65 be screened for falls. Home visits looking at lighting and areas of potential dangers like throw rugs.

The bottom line is that prevention is key.
