Redskins Bench McNabb, Will Start Rex Grossman Against Cowboys
WASHINGTON, DC (CBS) -- Former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb's first season with the Washington Redskins has been one to forget. And now it looks like it might be over.
Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan announced today that he is benching McNabb for the rest of the season, barring injury, in favor of back-up Rex Grossman.
In fact, while McNabb will serve as the back-up this week, Shanahan says he plans to slide him down to #3 on the depth chart beginning next week and move up John Beck, who has been the third quarterback through the season's first 13 games.
Shanahan says with the Redskins eliminated from playoff contention, he wants to evaluate all the quarterbacks on the roster.
McNabb has thrown for 3,377 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. He has also thrown a career-high 15 interceptions for the 5-8 Redskins.
