Red Cross Walk And Run To Save Lives

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--The Red Cross Walk and Run to Save Lives is taking place at the Philadelphia Zoo on October 5th and organizers insist that there is still time to sign up.
It's their annual 5K walk and run, and this year it is in a new setting, the Philadelphia Zoo.
Philadelphia Red Cross CEO Judge Renee Cardwell Hughes says, "So you get to stay at the zoo all day long and enjoy the wonderful new things that have happened there. And most importantly, you're supporting disaster relief in our community."
The Walk and Run is $45 dollars for adults and $20 for kids age 12 and under. Hughes explains the charge is a critical part of the Red Cross' fundraising efforts.
"We're in the heart of hurricane season and we've been watching the devastation across the country with the flooding in Colorado and we know how much we hurt from Sandy last year."
She says there are up to five fires each night they have to respond to, taking care of anybody displaced.
