Quarantined Nurse Remains Under Observation In New Jersey
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — State officials say the health care worker quarantined at a New Jersey hospital because she had contact with Ebola patients in West Africa remains under observation in a building adjacent to the hospital.
A health department spokeswoman said Sunday that Kaci Hickox remains isolated in a climate-controlled, indoor, extended care area. But further details on her condition were not disclosed.
Hickox is a nurse who had been working with Doctors Without Borders in Sierra Leone. She tested negative for Ebola in a preliminary evaluation.
Hickox, the first traveler quarantined under Ebola watches in New Jersey and New York, has sharply criticized the way her case has been handled. The Ebola watch mandates 21 days of quarantine of medical workers and other airline passengers who have had contact with Ebola victims.
