Pushups For Charity In Bucks County Raises Money For Injured Veterans
CHALFONT, Pa. (CBS) - This Saturday has been declared the unofficial National Pushups for Charity Day and a local fitness guru is inviting area residents to join the cause at North Branch Park in Chalfont, Pa. (Bucks County) to help wounded veterans.
Paul Dziewisz, owner of Active Personal Fitness, is encouraging everyone to come out to participate in the event. The Central Bucks Pushups for Charity requires participants to do as many pushups as they can in a minute and a half.
"Even though they may think they can't, there's a version of pushups that just about everyone can do," Dziewisz explains. "And so it's a simple way and it's only 90 seconds worth of time and to get people to come out and do something active to help such a great organization."
Each push up means a donation for the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that helps injured men and women in the military. The event raised over $250,000 nationwide last year.
Dziewisz says he hopes the event will also get the community moving towards healthier lifestyles.
