Public Hearing Underway For 2nd Philadelphia Casino
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A Philadelphia official has told the state gaming board that the city is still evaluating the six proposals for a second casino in Philadelphia and hasn't decided yet which one it likes best.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is holding hearings on Thursday and Friday on applications for the second Philadelphia casino license.
Deputy Mayor Alan Greenberger says the city has hired a consulting firm to help evaluate the proposals and assess their economic impact and how they would spur growth.
Six groups are vying for the second casino license slotted for the city under the state's gaming law. The first, Sugarhouse Casino, has been up and running since September 2010.
The state's first casino opened in 2006 and it now has 11 casinos statewide.
