PSPCA Seizes 12 Dogs From Grays Ferry Building
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Officers from the Pennsylvania SPCA removed at least a dozen dogs from a former pet shop in the city's Grays Ferry neighborhood.
The seizure happened Wednesday afternoon in the 2800 block of Wharton Street.
According to PSPCA officials, they removed at least a dozen dogs from the home, some who were kept in small crates.
PSCPA officials said conditions inside the property were deplorable.
Police are not releasing the name of a suspect due to the fact that the individual is in the witness protection program.
The suspect told Eyewitness News that he left someone in charge of the dogs who did not follow through.
The investigation is ongoing.
