PSE&G: Full Power Restoration Delayed To Saturday
TRENTON, N.J. (CBS/AP) — The president of New Jersey's largest utility says Wednesday night's snowstorm delayed power restoration to all of its customers by a day, to Saturday.
PSE&G's Ralph LaRossa (la-ROSE'-ah) says about 70,000 customers are without power from last week's superstorm. About 40,000 more lost electricity from the snowstorm.
Prior to the snowstorm, the utility had projected it would have all customers' lights on by Friday.
LaRossa said Thursday a few thousand customers in Jersey City also lost power Wednesday night due to an underground fire.
Overall about 390,000 customers of New Jersey utilities remain without electricity Thursday morning, including more than a quarter-million households and businesses served by Jersey Central Power & Light.
JCP&L said it will know by this afternoon what its new target is for full restoration.
