Protestors Gather At LOVE Park To Denounce Verdict In Zimmerman Trial

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The "not guilty" verdict for George Zimmerman in the shooting of Trayvon Martin (see related story), has sparked protests in cities across the country, including Philadelphia.
Several different groups gathered at various times in LOVE Park Sunday to denounce the verdict and remeber the victim.
Some of the protesters chanted "no justice, no peace" out of anger. Others tried to offer constructive outlets for frustration over the verdict.
"You can go to law school, you can become a lawyer and you can fight for the justice that was denied here," this protestor said.

Reverend Carla Harris of Africa Redemption Church helped organize one of the demonstrations. She says the verdict drew a strong response in cities thousands of miles removed from Sanford, Florida, because it felt personal:
"It happens to us in every state and every city. It signals injustice. It's something we've had to deal with for, what, 500 years now? And we're quite tired of it," she said.
Mayor Nutter also asked, "what are we to do?" in a statement on the verdict. He said he was saddened by the verdict (see related story) and suggested focusing resolve on making a more just, safer America.
