Protesters Oppose Drone Command Center In Montgomery County

HORSHAM, Pa. (CBS) - The Horsham Air Guard Station, formerly known as the Willow Grove Air Base, is expected to establish a Drone War Command Center.
Many locals are against creating jobs that will give this base the ability to kill people abroad remotely, and came out to protest the new development Saturday.
About 100 protesters in front of the Horsham Air Guard Station expressed their displeasure with the establishment of the planned Drone War Command Center.
Robert Smith of the Brandywine Peace Community helped organize the rally:
"It's the command center that picks up the drone once it's in flight and guides it to its target and launches the missiles thousands of miles away," he said.
Emily Cook is chair of the Montgomery County Green Party:
"We know that there are many civilians that are killed in countries like Yemen, Pakistan, and a number of deaths of children we find really disturbing -- and these are sovereign countries and we're not at war with them! So we're against it and we're against paying for it and taxpayers should be outraged," she said
Smith says the Drone Command Center is expected to be operational by October.
