Prosecutors ID South Jersey Woman Killed By Public Works Truck

SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. (AP) — Authorities have identified the woman who was struck and killed by a municipal public works truck while walking on the Sea Isle City promenade last weekend.  (Read related story)

Cape May County prosecutors say 69-year-old Bernice Pasquarello of Medford moved over to make room for the small dump truck as it passed by her around 1 p.m. Saturday. But she was struck moments later when the driver put the truck in reverse so another city employee could go back to pick up some metal.

Pasquarello was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed, but the accident remains under investigation.

Town officials say the truck was being used on the promenade to help clean up debris spawned by Superstorm Sandy.
