Prosecutor: 5 Men Charged In Connection With Shooting Outside NJ Church Earlier This Year
TRENTON, NJ (CBS) – Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini reports a grand jury has returned an indictment charging several men in connection with a shooting at a funeral that wounded three attendees.
The shooting occurred in April 2014 at the Galilee Baptist Church.
Officials say hundreds were gathered at the Church for the funeral of Cagney Roberts, 19, when shots were fired outside. Two men and woman were injured.
Samuel Vincent, Samier Vincent and Terrance Maddox are all charged with attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault, according to the Prosecutor's Office.
Lawrence Sutphin and Richard Holman were also named in the indictment for the roles they allegedly played in the crime.
Samuel Vincent has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault and other related charges.
Samier Vincent is charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree receiving stolen property and other related charges.
Terrance Maddox is charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, third degree receiving stolen property and other related charges.
Lawrence Sutphin is charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, third-degree receiving stolen property and second degree certain persons not to possess a firearm.
Richard Holman was indicted for third-degree theft by unlawful taking and second-degree unlawful possession of handguns. He is also charged with stealing three handguns from Burlington County, two of which authorities say were used in the Church shooting.
Samuel Vincent, Samier Vincent and Maddox all remain in jail.
