Privacy Advocates Don't Like New Facebook Features

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Facebook has released a tool that lets you download a trove of personal information -- nearly everything you've posted and done on the site since the moment you signed up. But, it doesn't go far enough for privacy advocates.
It's called 'Download Your Information' -- an option on the Account Settings page. It's actually been offered for a while, but Facebook has now expanded what they tell you about yourself.
"Previous user names, friend requests, IP addresses of computers that you've logged on to Facebook from."
As well as all your posts, pokes, photos, videos and messages, says David Jacobs, consumer privacy fellow at the Electronic Privacy Information Center.
"Facebook isn't quite at the point of complete transparency yet."
He cites a European group which says even now, the social network reveals less than half of what it collects to users who request it.
Jacobs says it's your data, and you deserve to know what Facebook knows.
"Allowing consumers to see the information that's being collected about them is absolutely essential."
