Princeton Avenue On-Ramp To I-95 Closing For Construction

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - If you're one of the 13,000 drivers who use the Princeton Avenue on-ramp to northbound I-95 in the Northeast every day, get ready for a headache. The ramp closed this morning at 9 a.m.
If you're a regular at the Cottman-Princeton interchange, you know they've been doing major surgery for a long time, and this is part of the process, says PennDOT's Gene Blaum.
"Our contractor has to put a large drainage pipe 35 feet below the ramp, and because of the excavation and the work that needs to be done, the ramp just can't remain open to traffic."
So, traffic will be detoured up State Rd. to Linden Avenue, where a left and quick right will put you on northbound 95. Torresdale and Frankford Avenues would also work.
The detour should be over by Friday afternoon at the latest, but work will continue remaking the northbound ramp for some time. Eventually, a new, second southbound ramp will also be built there.
