Presidential Hopeful Newt Gingrich Visits Philadelphia To Screen Documentary
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Former US House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich was in Philadelphia with the Independence Hall Tea Party Association to premiere the screening of "A City Upon A Hill," a documentary hosted by Gingrich and his wife Callista.
As part of his strategy to seek the Republican nomination for President, Newt Gingrich announced he would roll out a comprehensive plan this week:
"On Thursday in Des Moines we're going to release a 21st Century Contract With America, which is going to be very explicit about how much change we need in Washington."
But before Gingrich can run for President, he has to get past the other candidates to win the Republican nomination. With speculation that the New Jersey Governor could throw his hat in the race, what does he think about Chris Christie?
"I think Governor Christie's done a good job as Governor of New Jersey. That's not the same as being President or being a candidate for President, but if he wants to come and run it would be great and I look forward to seeing him at the next debate."
When asked "Why would folks vote for him in this region over Christie if he decides to run?" Gingrich replied: "Well I think in the end, people have to decide how much trouble we're in and whether or not they want someone who has a record of getting us out of trouble."
