Prepare To Scream: 'Horror Con' Is Coming To Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Funerary violins, an un-dead puppeteer and a horror-filled burlesque show. It might sound morbid, but that's the point.
This weekend, Horror Con—that's the Mausoleum Horror Convention, for those unfamiliar with it—is coming to Philadelphia. The two-day celebration of the "wild and weird," presented by the Philadelphia Mausoleum of Contemporary Art and Cinedelphia.com, is taking place at PhilMOCA this Friday and Saturday, June 15th and 16th.
So, what terrifying treats are in store for those looking to attend?
On Friday night, Horror Con kicks off with the Mausoleum Art Show of Horrors, featuring dark artwork and a series of short horror films called the "Tour of North American Terror," followed by the feature-length documentary "Maybe We Can Go to Hollywood" by local horror specialist Isaac Williams.
Saturday's the main event, with vendors, short films, entertainment, contests and trivia, starting at 11 a.m. and going all day. Of course, the most macabre things are scheduled for nighttime: First, Monique Canniere and Mano Divina, of the Divine Hand Ensemble, will play a performance of funerary violin music. At 8 p.m., there's Screw Smart, a Philly-based sex education/comedy troupe, followed by a Mr. Dead Guy (the aforementioned un-dead puppeteer)-hosted horror-themed burlesque show. And finally at 10 p.m., the night comes to a frightening finish with a still-TBA horror flick premiere.
Here's hoping the costumes are even better than the ones at Comic-Con…
