Preliminary Hearing Scheduled In Upper Darby Missing Baby Case
UPPER DARBY, Pa. (AP) -- A Pennsylvania man is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Delaware County on charges of having kidnapped a 7-month-old boy who has not yet been found.
Authorities allege that 30-year-old Ummad Rushdi of York took Hamza Ali from the Upper Darby home of his girlfriend on Aug. 4. He is charged in Delaware County with kidnapping and related counts.
Upper Darby police chief Michael Chitwood has said authorities fear that the child is dead.
Authorities last week searched a landfill and park in York County for the boy's body. Police suspect the child might have been buried near the Susquehanna River town of Columbia and later exhumed and given a religious burial elsewhere.
Rushdi has been held on $750,000 bail.
