Power Problems Persist In Hunterdon County Days After Sandy

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ - Downed trees still litter homes and properties in Whitehouse Station, located in Readington Township, Hunterdon County.
Many folks in this community were still without power Thursday afternoon, ten days after Hurricane Sandy hit.
Resident Richard Cherry set up his generator near the garage, "I've gone through probably $250 worth of gas in ten days.
They aren't cheap to run, however it's a godsend I have heat, I have my well." Cherry's also been cooking meals on his gas stove in the garage. "just going to have to grin and bear it."
Jackie Cornetta and her husband stayed in their home for one week, she's had her five children scattered at different friend's homes that have power. "Monday night, my brother who lives in town got power, so we've been staying there," said Cornetta, "It's been really cold."
Jersey Central Light & Power said as of Thursday afternoon, 1500 of their customers in Readington Township were without power.
A spokesman said there are more than 6,000 line crews throughout New Jersey working to get power restored. JCL&P also said hazardous conditions during the nor'easter did slow down their repair efforts, but they're hoping to have power restored to the majority of their customers by Saturday.
