Power Outages, Dropping Temperatures Leave Thousands In The Cold In Bucks County

LANGHORNE, Pa., (CBS) -- As Bucks County recovers from the ice storm that closed roads and brought down power lines and trees, many flocked to warm places Wednesday night.
"We don't have power. Everybody wants to eat so we're here picking up a couple pizzas," Lisa Yizzi said.
Lisa and her husband picked up dinner for their family and the neighbor's after this downed tree knocked out power to the entire area.
"Hopefully it will be over soon and the kids can get back to school," she said.
Into the night, falling ice and trees still covered roads, this one landing on a home on River Road in Lower Makefield. As temperatures plummet, Maple Point Middle School opened as a warming center and shelter.
Many were forced to spend the night at a friend or relative's home.
KYW's Dan Wing caught up with one Bucks County couple unable to stay at home.
Casandra of Langhorne says her 4-year-old son Hayden came to wake her up around 9 a.m., because he couldn't turn on his TV, and it didn't take long to realize what was going on.
"Looked around, saw that all the lights were off, the night lights were off, and realized that we didn't have power," Casandra said.
She says the next step was calling boyfriend Pat who had already left for work, and coming up with a plan for after work and school.
"We would go home, see if we had power, and pack up a bag, or two, one for each of us," she said.
And with that it was off to Cassandra's aunt's house in Newtown to spend the night. While sleeping arrangements weren't ideal, it was still better than being in a home without power. And for Hayden, the best part, definitely the Legos.
"That keeps me busy," he said.
(Reporter:) "What are you building?"
"A castle," he said.
(Reporter:) "What kind of castle?"
"The joker's castle," he said.
About 110,000 customers in Bucks County remain without power Thursday morning.
At its height, about 135,000 PECO customers in the County were without power, more than half of their customers here.
