PHILADELPHIA, PA (CBS) — The Green Bay Packers didn't do anything that the Eagles didn't expect on Sunday. It was just one of those games where things began poorly and spiraled out of control.
"We knew that they were going to come out and throw the ball," Eagles' safety Malcolm Jenkins said. "They did a better job than we did winning one-on-one matchups. Aaron Rodgers got the ball out really quick, and we knew he was going to scramble. He threw the ball in some narrow windows. It was one of those games where you don't have an answer."
Jenkins said that to a man, everyone would admit that they had a bad game. Offense, defense and special teams, everyone could look at the film and see what they could do better.
"The biggest thing we can take from this game is everyone needs to look at their specific game and the specific lessons that they can take from it," Jenkins said. "We can't look at big picture too early. When you do that, you lose sight of the task at hand, and keeping focused on the task at hand is when you take care of the small tasks in this league. That's how you win and that big picture will work itself out.
"We know we're better than how we played on Sunday. I don't think any of us believe we're as bad as what we put on tape yesterday. I still think there is a lot to improve on and what we need to correct. We ran into a buzzsaw. The biggest thing for us, at least from the leadership on this team is, after we had that great game against Carolina, some thought we answered some questions. Now we have some adversity, let's see how we handle it. I think we have the right guys to handle it. We'll see how we do.
"I'm not looking forward to Sunday, I'm looking forward to Tuesday's practice to see how this team reacts."
But there was something Jenkins did take from Sunday's loss.
"That was the best thing I was excited about on Sunday, there was no finger pointing, and everybody kept trying, regardless of the score," Jenkins said. "No one complained about the calls or anyone messing up. Everybody really focused on continuing to fight and fly around. We didn't want to be that team that quit.
"Once you put that on tape that your will can be broken, that's out there for the league to see. It is very hard when the game is out of reach and you're getting whipped to keep playing hard. But we have a lot of prideful guys where everyone has their name on the back of their jersey and they have to represent that name. That's the one good thing we can take away from Sunday. Guys still played hard."
