Post Snap With Malcolm Jenkins: 'We're Not Far Behind The Patriots'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Malcolm Jenkins didn't wait for the confetti to drop before grabbing a leash to walk his dog late Sunday evening. The Eagles' safety didn't need to see the New England Patriots celebrating their fourth Super Bowl championship, with the stunning last-second 28-24 victory over the shocked Seattle Seahawks. Not if he wasn't under the tinsel rain himself.
Jenkins actually called what would happen in the Super Bowl, when he said on "Post Snap" last week that the game could hinge on the Patriots' slot defender. It's right where rookie free agent Malcolm Butler just happened to be—when Wilson threw the game-changing interception in the game's waning seconds.
"It was a fun Super Bowl to watch, and I remember thinking when Seattle was right there knocking on the door, and Russell Wilson are going to win their second-straight Super Bowl," Jenkins said. "On that last play, they tried to run that slant play, and the Butler kid made a great play on that ball. Usually that play Seattle ran there in the end is wide open. They put the one receiver in the slot to pick the defender, but Butler was much more aggressive than Ricardo Lockett going for the ball. That was a phenomenal play.
"I don't think we're that far behind the Patriots. The biggest thing is we have to learn to take care of the football. I don't think talent wise that New England is that far ahead of us at all. They know how to win, they know what wins, and they execute. That's why they're the Super Bowl champions. We should have been in the Super Bowl this year. Put it this way, if you play in the NFL, you should have the attitude that you're good enough to play in the Super Bowl. If anyone steps on an NFL field and doesn't think that they're the best, or want to be the best, they shouldn't step on the field. I see it with this team and what we have n our locker room to make something happen. It's not even a question whether or not we're good enough. It's frustrating to know we can beat these teams and you sit there with hollow feeling in the pit of your stomach where you should be. We should be there. It's why I didn't watch the celebration, because in my mind, my season is just starting. Our championship just started last night."
Jenkins changed the channel, got up from his sofa and walked his dog. He's ready to begin 2015.
