Possible Tornado Damages 17 Homes Near Lewes, Delaware
LEWES, Del. (CBS) -- A possible tornado reportedly touched down near Lewes, Delaware Saturday evening damaging more than a dozen homes.
The tornado reportedly touched down at about 6:35 p.m. in the Nassau Station and Tradewinds Subdivison. The area is located two miles southwest of Lewes, which is on the Delmarva Peninsula in Sussex County.
Delaware Governor Jack Markell says at least 17 homes were damaged and that number could rise. Several of the houses were seriously damaged.
The National Weather Services will have to confirm it was indeed a tornado.
The Lewes Fire Department says no injuries were reported.
