Positively Philadelphia: Teen Essay Contest For Trip To Italy
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Delaware County travel company is running an essay contest for students. The prize: a chance to travel abroad.
"TravelForTeens.com is running an international friendship contest, which is an essay contest for students -- 7th through 12th grade -- to write an essay about the importance of international friendship," said Ned Clark, vice-president and program director for TravelForTeens.com.

"Students who may not otherwise be able to travel and form those friendships could potentially win a trip -- all expenses paid -- to do community service in Italy in Cinque Terra National Park as well as visit Rome and Sorrento."
And what can you do to make your essay stand out?
"Essays that get the most attention are ones that focus on how the international friendship is going to take them places that they never would have gone before. Really, it's the most important thing separating the winners from people who are just writing for a free trip."
For information on how to apply, go to TravelForTeens.com.
"It is so common for teenagers to grow up in an isolated community and really only know the kids in their high school. Once you expose them to an environment where they're meeting people from other places, their growth as individuals skyrockets."
The deadline is May 22, 2011.
That's Positively Philadelphia!
