Positively Philadelphia: Pennsylvania Ballet's 'Nutcracker Market'

By Lauren Lipton

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  It's a first-time event for Philadelphia, and it promises to be something you won't want to miss.

"This year, in honor of our 50th anniversary, the Pennsylvania Ballet has decided to have a 'Nutcracker Market.'  It's an indoor event at the Kimmel Center, on December 7th and 8th," says Tracy Wenzinger, a trustee for the Pennsylvania Ballet.

"Our fifty vendors come from across the United States and here in Philadelphia, including one of our dancers, who makes her own dancewear.  Items from crafts to clothing -- to doggy apparel," Wenzinger (right) notes.

And there's more:

"For those who don't want to necessarily shop, there will be acts performing on   stage.  Irish dancers, tap dancers, Asian dancers, Indian dancers, a Baptist choir."

And have you always wanted to be able to make one of those festive, holiday gingerbread houses?

"For $25, they will have classes on how to construct a gingerbread house.   You can also take an origami class," which is free.

And last, but certainly not least...

"There are drinks for people of all ages, from hot cocoa to cocoa martinis, or candy cane and chocolate martinis with marshmallows in them."

Now we're talking!

"All this stuff is for people to come in out of the cold, enjoy holiday shopping, and enjoy the city of Philadelphia."

Admission to the market is free.

And, for this week, that's "Positively Philadelphia!"
