Portions Of Brandywine Creek Overflow Causing Major Flooding On Roadways
POCOPSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- The Brandywine Creek spilled over its banks in parts of Chester County, forcing closure of stretches of local highways including Routes 1, 100 and 926 in Pocopson and Chadds Ford.
Drivers at noontime faced a maze of closures, making travel confusing in the area.

One grandmom was frustrated trying to find an open route to pick up her 6 year old grandson at kindergarten, while a deliveryman with load of lunchtime pizza suddenly found himself seeking an alternate route.
Chester County officials say the flooding did not cause any injuries, extensive damage or evacuations. However, they reissued their warning never to drive through standing water in flood situations.

On Route 100 in Lenape a delivery truck sat empty, apparently stuck in water that covered the highway. Nearby, the Lenape park was also largely under water. Large logs were washing down the swollen creek, two of them floating across Route 926 forming a partial roadblock.
By early afternoon, most stretches of Routes 100 and 926 near the creek were reopening as the waters began receding.
