Police: 2 Dead Following Serious Accident On Atlantic City Expressway ID'd
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) -- New Jersey State Police say two people were pronounced dead following an accident on the Atlantic City Expressway Friday afternoon.
The victims have been identified by State Police as 35-year-old Sean McBride and 31-year-old Gabrielle Lynnes.
At about 1:29 p.m. Friday, State Police say troopers responded to a serious crash on the westbound side of the Atlantic City Expressway at milepost 20.4 in Hamilton Township.
Traffic was being forced off of the roadway starting at exit 17.
According to police, McBride was driving a Jeep Liberty with Lynnes as a passenger.
Police say he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and subsequently crashed into a BMW that was stopped on the right shoulder.
Police say a 38-year-old man was outside of the BMW checking on a flat when the crash occurred. He was struck and thrown by the Jeep Liberty, according to police.
Police say the Jeep also caught fire.
All three were taken to AtlantiCare Medical Center.
Police say McBride and Lynnes were pronounced dead at the hospital.
The 38-year-old man was listed as stable, according to police.
The cause and circumstances of this crash are currently under investigation.
