Port Authority Transportation Facilities Slowly Recovering From Sandy
TRENTON, N. J. (CBS) – The Port Authority of New Jersey and New York has reported an update on conditions at their transportation facilities on Sunday.
The Port Authority reports that all five airports have normal flight activity and are fully operational. These airports include the JFK International, LaGuardia, Newark Liberty International, Stewart International and Teterboro.
Officials say AirTrain JFK and AirTrain Newark are operating at full service, but Amtrak still has limited services and is taking passengers to Newark Penn Station and Philadelphia.
The Bayonne, George Washington, Goethals and Outerbridge Crossing bridges and the Lincoln Tunnel are open say officials.
Port Authority officials say the Holland Tunnel is only opening one lane of the south tube from 5:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. for bus commuters traveling from New Jersey to Manhattan and 1 p.m. – 9 p.m. for commuters heading back to New Jersey.
Officials also report that PATH is still suspended. Engineers, staff and contractors are working to resume service.
The Elizabeth Port Authority Marine Terminal was opened on Sunday and power was restored to the Maher and APM Terminals on Saturday say officials.
