Popular Idea-Sharing Event TEDxPhiladelphia Returns
By Pat Loeb
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The popular idea-sharing event, "TED X," returned to Philadelphia, today, with a day-long series of speakers on a wide variety of subjects.
KYW's Pat Loeb reports the common thread was the TED motto that they were "ideas worth spreading."
Ted X Philly covered everything from government to art, music to medicine to manufacturing, with speakers including poet Sonia Sanchez and investment banker Richard Vague, precisely the sort of mashup that drew more than a thousand people to the Performing Arts Center at Temple University.
"It's an interesting mix of speakers of presentations, certainly gives you a lot to think about," one attendee said.
"The speakers are of an incredibly high caliber and inspiring," another said.
"It's a great, amazing program and I think it's just going to revitalize what we do and how we think about things," another said.
Rashia Jones-Cook was particularly charmed that the speakers, for all their diversity, shared one dominant value.
"Everything leads back to the community, which is, I just think, wonderful," Jones-Cook said.
The talks will be available online next week.
