Poll Shows Close Race Between Meehan, Lentz
HARRISBURG (CBS) - A new Franklin and Marshall College poll shows a close race in Pennsylvania's 7th congressional district between Republican Pat Meehan and Democrat Bryan Lentz.
The Franklin and Marshall College poll shows that among likely voters in the 7th district, Republican Patrick Meehan holds a lead of just three points, 34-percent to 31-percent, a lead that is within the poll's margin of error. A full third of likely voters remain undecided. But poll director Terry Madonna said Meehan's lead widens as the screen for "likely" voters becomes more restrictive:
"If we would go to people who are far more certain to vote, then Pat Meehan's lead would increase."
In the race for US Senate, Democrat Joe Sestak leads Republican Pat Toomey by just eight points among likely voters in the 7th district, an unimpressive margin, says Madonna, considering that Sestak currently represents the district.
The race for governor among likely 7th district voters is a virtual dead heat.
