Poll: President Obama's Approval Rating Hits All-time Low
WASHINGTON, D.C. (CBS) – President Obama might have more in common with former President George W. Bush than he'd like to admit.
According to a new Quinnipiac University Poll, the President's approval rating has reached a new low, comparable to Bush's rating during the same time period of his presidency.
In fact, the most recent poll says 54 – 39 percent of American voters now disapprove of the job the president is doing. It's President Obama's lowest-ever approval rating, second to the 55 – 41 percent disapproval recorded in an Oct. 2011 survey from Quinnipiac.
And there's more troubling news for the White House: Even women now disapprove 51-40 percent of the job the President is doing.
"Any Democrat with an 11-point approval deficit among women is in trouble. And any elected official with an 8-point trust deficit is in serious trouble," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
Additionally, American voters now say that the President is not honest and trustworthy for the first time, 52 – 44 percent.
Previously, the President's lowest honesty rating was on May 30, 2013, when 49% of voters said he was honest and 47% said he wasn't.
"President Obama's misstatement, 'If you like your health plan, you can keep it,' left a bad taste with a lot of people. Nearly half of the voters, 46 percent, think he knowingly deceived them," Malloy says.
According to Quinnipiac, the poll was conducted from Nov. 6 – 11 and surveyed 2,545 voters. The margin of error is +/- 1.9 percent.
