Political Consultant On Hillary Clinton: 'Her Poll Numbers Are Up Since The Emails'
By Rich Zeoli
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Attorney and Political Consultant Lanny Davis defended Hillary Clinton against charges of potential impropriety while she served served as Secretary of State.
Davis told Rich Zeoli on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT that these distractions are not having an impact on her run for President.
"Her poll numbers are up since the emails and if you're buying into the notion that people who are concerned about their incomes, concerned about their problems, don't see the piling on that has been going on for a long time, whether it's Hillary Clinton or Bill Clinton. It's not about the vast right wing conspiracy, it's about media feeding off partisan attacks. It happened to George Bush. It probably happened to George Washington."
He dismissed the new book, Clinton Cash, by Peter Schweizer as a biased, partisan attack.
"Most people see this for what it is. It's not about facts. We all know [that]. Even the man who wrote the book said he has no facts to support a theory she accepted bribes or her husband took money and returned favors, which by the way, is a crime. They're not using those words. No one is buying that now because he doesn't have the facts and he admitted it on television."
Davis lamented the political atmosphere in Washington that creates gossip spreading and rumor mongering.
"I don't attribute this to any conspiracy. It's part of the scandal machinery that we've seen operate, unfortunately, on a bipartisan basis because I saw it operating on George W. Bush."
