Police: Would-Be Robber, Victim Exchange Gunfire
NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) — New Castle County police say a would-be robber and his victim were injured when they exchanged gunfire.
Officers were called to the 100 block of Parma Avenue in New Castle on Saturday evening, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. They learned that the man was shot by a man who tried to rob him and he returned fire.
Later, during a traffic stop near Wilmington Hospital, officers found 21-year-old Jamear Dixon of Claymont suffering from a gunshot wound to his stomach. In the car, police say they found property taken from three people robbed at gunpoint just minutes before the shooting.
Dixon is listed in serious but stable condition. He is charged in the shooting, attempted robbery and the earlier robbery.
