Police: Three Little Girls Found Living in 'Deplorable' Logan Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A couple is facing charges after three children were removed from a Logan rowhome that was reportedly in deplorable condition.
According to police, three girls -- ages one, three, and four -- were removed from the home in the 4800 block of North Ninth Street about 9am after police served an arrest warrant for a woman living there.
Neighbors say there were "domestic" issues between the woman and a man who also lived in the home.
According to police records, officers went to the home to execute an arrest warrant for the woman and took her to Northwest Detectives for investigation of domestic abuse. The man was taken to the Special Victims Unit.
But at least one neighbor, Jenny Jones, says the woman is the one who appeared to have been beaten earlier this week. Jones says the three little girls had been seen outside the house, in Jones' words, "half naked."
Police say the house had no beds or cribs available for the children, lacked a working toilet and had what appeared to be human waste scattered around. Captain Jack Fleming says the girls were only clothed in diapers seemed to be "covered in filth." They were taken to St. Christopher's Hospital For Children for evaluation.
The police department's Special Victims Unit is now investigating and the city's Department of Human Services is monitoring the children.
The 25-year-old father, Soyika Eldemire, and the 24-year-old mother, Lakeeshanaye Overton, were each charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person.
