Police Think Exton Fast-Food Burglary Linked To Widespread Spree

By Brad Segall

.

EXTON, Pa. (CBS) -- Authorities in Chester County, Pa. say two men responsible for a burglary in West Whiteland Township last week may be involved in similar burglaries up and down the East Coast.

Investigators believe the suspects responsible for last Tuesday's break-in at the Dunkin Donuts in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway in Exton may be responsible for a string of burglaries from Virginia to Connecticut.   At least fifteen different police departments are investigating similar incidents.

.

West Whiteland detective Scott Pezick says they have surveillance footage from the Dunkin Donuts case.

"We observed two subjects wearing hoods, masks, and gloves enter the business and proceed to remove over five thousand dollars in cash from the business," he tells KYW Newsradio.

Employees arriving for work last Tuesday found damage to the front door and to several cash registers.

.

Surveillance caught a maroon pickup truck driving past the store (right) just prior to the burglary.

In the other burglaries, Pezick says, the method of operation or the description of the suspects appears to be the same.
