Police: Teens Drove Stolen Cars To Burglarize Bensalem Home
BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- Two teens have been arrested and charged after police say they drove stolen cars to a home they then attempted to burglarize.
Authorities say they were called out to a home on the 100 block of Tatham Road overnight for a report of a burglary in progress. The 35-year-old homeowner said she had heard a noise and saw an unknown male inside of the house. The woman told police that the suspect ran out of the house when she confronted him.
Arriving officers then located two suspicious vehicles near the residence and determined they had both been reported stolen -- one from Philadelphia, the other from Easttown Township, Chester County.
Officers then located a 17-year-old juvenile in one of the stolen cars and took him into custody.
A K-9 team led authorities to the initial male who investigators say entered the home on Tatham Road in an attempt to burglarize it -- he was found hiding in some bushes in front of a home on the 400 block of Brister Road. Police identified him as 18-year-old James Woodman of Philadelphia.
According to the investigation, the two males also entered several parked vehicles in the neighborhood to steal items. Law enforcement officials in Easttown Township say they experienced similar thefts from vehicles along with the stolen car.
The two have been have been charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass and Theft from Auto among other related charges.
Woodman was arraigned and sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of bail. The 17-year-old suspect was sent to Edison Juvenile Facility.
