Police Search For Gunmen Who Shot 13-Year-Old In Wissinoming Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police say a 13-year-old boy suffered a graze wound to the stomach when shots were fired during a robbery attempt in Wissinoming.

It happened shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday at the 4000 block of Creston Street.

Police say the teen was inside a home sitting at the dining room table when it happened.

According to police, a 34-year-old man was on the porch.  Police say the suspects attempted to rob that man, and that's when he ran into the house and tried to shut the door.

Police say shots were fired through the door and the teen was hit.

He was taken to Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children in stable condition.

"The 34-year-old resident was able to slam the front door on these two perpetrators while shots were being fired. At least one of the shots went through the front door. The 13-year-old boy was on the first floor in the living room at the time when he got struck in the stomach," said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

No arrests have been made.

An investigation is underway.
