Police: 1 Of 4 Teens Seen Vandalizing Cars In YouTube Video Turns Himself In
By Jim Melwert
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police say one of the teens, seen in an online video vandalizing cars (see related story), has turned himself in.
Police say a 16-year-old has turned himself in, after investigators found videos posted on YouTube of a group calling itself "Wreck Locals."
In the YouTube videos, the teens randomly kick and smash side-view mirrors and windshields, they spray paint on the sides and hoods of cars and, as police lieutenant Ray Evers points out, they proudly show their faces.
"Very, very identifiable, we hope to have all four very soon."
Police found the online videos while investigating similar vandalism along the 2000 block of Etting Street in South Philadelphia. That's where resident Joseph Salterelli's windshield was smashed, his car spray-painted and two tires slashed.
He's hardly surprised the teens are bragging and posting videos online. "They're thugs man, they need something to do. Someone has to take them off the street before they get someone else."
Police say with the amount of damage, these kids could face felony charges.
