Police: Man Surrenders To Authorities After Breaking Into North Philadelphia Pizza Shop
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police have arrested a man after he allegedly broke into a pizza shop in North Philadelphia early Sunday morning.
The incident took place on 15th and Brandywine streets at Brandywine Pizza at about 2 a.m. Police say as an employee was preparing to close the shop, he noticed the air conditioner unit being pushed in from outside.
When he went out to check on it, he was accosted by an armed robber. According to authorities, the robber pistol whipped the employee before attempting to get away with any money. The employee was able to contact police while the robbery was still in progress, authorities say.
When police arrived at the scene, they say the robber eventually surrendered himself to authorities.
The employee did not sustain any serious injuries.
