Police: Suspect Sought in 3 Philadelphia Store Robberies

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with three robberies last week.

On Dec. 23, at 3:19 p.m., police say two employees of Sam's Supermarket at the 2800 block of North Front Street were behind the counter when an unknown male entered the store armed with a handgun and approached the counter allegedly pointing the gun at the employees demanding money.

According to police, employee #1 took an undetermined amount of money from the register and gave it to the suspect. Police say the suspect then ordered the employees to turn around and put their hands up and threatened to shoot the employees if they turned back around. The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, 5'10"-5'11", thin build, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with a multicolored decal on the front, black pants, black and white sneakers, black gloves and armed with a handgun with white on the grip.

On Dec. 24, at 10:05 p.m., two employees were inside a 7-11 convenience store located at the 4700 block of North Mascher Street. While assisting a customer, police say an unknown male entered the store and placed a handgun to a customer's head. The suspect then demanded money from employee #1.

When the employee removed the register drawer, police say the suspect demanded the employee place an undetermined amount of money in a plastic bag. The suspect then demanded employee #1 hand the plastic bag to employee #2 and demanding he empty the money from the second register into the bag, according to police.

Police say after taking an undetermined amount of cash and forcing the complainants to lie down on the floor, the suspect fled and was last seen on Mascher Street from Wyoming Avenue.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, age unknown, 5'7", small build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with a scarf covering his face and armed with a handgun.

On Dec. 28, at 2:40 p.m., an employee of  Leuris Deli Grocery store located at the 2800 block of Lee street was inside when police say an unknown male entered the store and pulled a handgun pointing it at the employee demanding money.

Police say the suspect then gave the employee a white plastic bag demanding money be placed into it. After the employee placed an undetermined amount of money into the bag a customer entered the store. Police say the suspect pointed the weapon at the customer then fled the store on foot and was last seen toward Water Street.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 18-25 years-of-age, light complexion, thin mustache, hair on chin, 5'4", thin build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and armed with a handgun.
