Police: Shots Fired During Brawl In Darby Borough

By Todd Quinones

DARBY BOROUGH, Pa., (CBS) – The Mother's Day brawl captured on cell phone video ended after police say this man, Raheem Pressley, pulled a gun from his pocket and then fired at least six shots.

One of those shots went through a window pane of a home on 4th Street.

"We arrested him for being a drug dealer, he's out on parole. Now hopefully when we get him they're going to put him back in," said Darby Borough Police Chief Bob Smythe.

Only CBS 3 Eyewitness News was there as another man, 18-year-old Tamir Austin, was brought in to be arraigned on felony riot charges.

Court documents allege Austin was fighting with Pressley's girlfriend Tessa Mims and it was that fight that helped touched off the melee that included some carrying baseball bats.

Neighbors say there were about 20 kids playing outside at the time.

"It's not fair for the citizens that live here, the children that play here, for these people to come and shoot and not care about people's lives," said neighbor Tasha Bicks.

Darby Councilwoman Jennifer Parks was there near 3rd and Greenway Avenue when police say Pressley began shooting.

"And I heard the gunshots and when I ran outside the children were outside screaming," Parks said.

Fortunately no one was home when the bullet hit the window and no one was injured.

There have been several shootings in the borough recently.

The police chief has stepped about patrols and has even contacted the state police in an effort to try and beef up police presence.

The Mayor told CBS 3 Eyewitness News she has had enough.

"There will be no block parties in Darby Borough this summer," said Darby Borough Mayor Helen Thomas.

The manhunt for Raheem Pressley and Tessa Mims continues.  Police say that Pressley in particular should be considered armed and dangerous. Police are asking anyone who knows their whereabouts to contact them immediately.
